Night in the City
Industrial air settles
The Prowlers emerge.
You seek forever
But you cannot catch what lies
Beyond the moment
My moonlit darling
Coughing on the picnic bench.
We share slow heartbeats…
Reach for sanity
Everything will pass you by
In the blackest hour.
We sleep unsettled.
All life unconsecrated;
We have escaped Them.
The Blind cannot judge
What is purged in the darkness.
The sky fades to dawn.
